Hed At The Streets Of Marseille
May 2026

Untitled design.jpg

During May 2026 on residency period in Marseille, Nir Jacob Younessi continued the development of HED - a mobile sound-based augmented listening system for Apple devices.

The research focused on live audio processing, environmental listening, and movement-based interaction using phone microphones, AirPods sensors, and real-time sound transformation.

The videos presented here were recorded directly in the streets of Marseille as raw live experiments with the system.

All sounds are captured and processed live through the device itself with the different microphones of the iPhone, without prerecorded material, editing, or post-production.

Through walking, listening, voice, and environmental sound, these recordings explore HED as a temporary layer placed onto the existing city - transforming everyday urban situations into evolving sonic encounters.

walking around La Plane,

a bit high,

a bit drunk.

chanting a mantra.

"Halah Ba Air"

it can mean different things:

I was walking in the city

I was walking - Bright.

The moisture in the city

The moisture - Bright

Walking around Fort Saint-Jean.

I was hearing this magical guy play the sax.

Spelling magic with the echos of the sea.

* I went to him after, and he left before I reached him.

if its you - Thank you.

Walking around Vieux-Port

many cars went in a row and honked.

There was a wedding.

The Honks made the public space aware of their event, creating an announcement of their happiness.
